Rent-A-Wreck Opens in Fontana
Local Family Man Finds Balance With the “Smart Alternative”
Fontana, CA (10/28/08) – Bill Sidhu has returned the rent-a-car company with the funny name to town! Rent-A-Wreck of Fontana, located at 9491 Sierra Avenue in Fontana, Ca is once again open for business.
Bill comes from sales and marketing background, where he spent many years working his way up to an executive position in the video game industry. An intense travel schedule caused Sidhu to miss valuable family time, and led him and his wife to seek a franchise business opportunity where they could work together close to home.
Sidhu found what he was searching for in Rent-A-Wreck, which he bought from its previous owner, a business that compliments his interest in cars, provides growth potential, while still allowing for quality and balance of life. “With Rent-A-Wreck, I feel we can provide a needed service to our community, while still being able to spend time with my family,” explained Bill, proudly adding that business is running smoothly, thanks to help from his wife and two sons – Ryan, 12 and Devin, 10 – who are honorable contributors to the company as Executive Vice President of Washing Cars and Executive Vice President of Vacuuming Cars, respectively.
Looking to the near future, Bill says that he hopes to see Rent-A-Wreck expand and offer a large variety of vehicles to match every kind of customer demand. One group of customers that has emerged for him is the truck drivers who use Fontana as a waypoint for shipments bound to and from the port of Los Angeles. Those drivers often lay over for a day or two and need to rent cars to avoid ‘bobtail’ fines assessed for trucks driving without trailers.
Rent-A-Wreck of Fallbrook marks 14 th Rent-A-Wreck location to open in California, the same place where the first ever Rent-A-Wreck opened 30 years ago. A young southern California entrepreneur named Dave Schwartz pioneered the concept of renting “clunkers”, used cars for less than the competition. The idea gained widespread popularity as celebrities such as Paul Newman, Henry Fonda, Bob Newhart and Ringo Starr rented older cars in order to preserve their anonymity on Hollywood’s star-struck streets. Today, Rent-A-Wreck franchise owners worldwide rent newer model, used cars, trucks, sport utilities and vans.
